Little Things Help Cut Costs to Home Heating and Cooling Systems

GALT, CA – Jason Kerby knows how hard it is to get ahead. When he started his business, J & J Heating and Air, in the early 2000s, he was working out of his garage. “In the early days of any business, you have to learn how to reduce your costs and provide incredible value to your clients,” explains Kerby. “Most people don’t have the capital to make a huge impression right away. We just have to make do with what we’ve got and work hard to provide the best service possible.”
As Kerby fondly describes the early days of his company, he talks about how much customer satisfaction and attention to detail mattered to him. “Those first years were all about making each customer feel cared for, treating them like family, and respecting their home like it was your own.” Kerby talks about the importance of building great relationships. Even when his company was able to move into a larger space and hire more workers, the connection they made with their clients was crucial.
“You always want people to know that you’re looking out for their concerns and well being,” states Kerby. “Too many people feel like the companies out there are just out to make money off their clients no matter the cost. I believe strongly that each person in our company needs to treat our customers and clients—anyone we come across—the way we want to be treated.” Kerby explains that one of the ways they take care of their customers is by paying attention to the little details that can help them save money.
“We know that money matters,” says Kerby. “Especially when everything around us seems so uncertain, people need to know that their service providers are looking out for them.” J & J Heating and Air help their customers to see the opportunities in their home that could help save money.
“One of the key issues in many older homes is insulation,” bemoans Kerby. “Walls can be thin, and the material in our walls can wither and diminish in their quality over time. Some houses have the equivalent of old sawdust as insulation.” When homes have little to no insulation, the external conditions have a more significant effect on the state of the residence. “Air conditioners work overtime in houses with poor insulation because they’re not effectively keeping out the hot air,” states Kerby. “One of the best things people can do before the summer hits is to have extra insulation blown into their attics or walls to help manage temperatures.”
Kerby explains that many companies offer free assessments to help homeowners know how to save money and conserve energy. “There are all sorts of incentives from the government and other organizations to help make these changes more affordable,” says Kerby. “Talk with your local service companies to find out how they can help you save your money.”
